It all began in the late 1800’s...

Visiting Bonnie Lou’s Cafe is like stepping back in time; the old post office boxes are still stocked with letters from days gone by, the wooden floors are weathered with the character of many years, and charming memorabilia bring life and memory to the walls and hutches surrounding the restaurant. Originally built and operated as a General Store in the late 1800s, the shop was renovated and re-opened as a quaint, homestyle restaurant in 2009 by Bonnie Lou Martin.

Since then, the Cafe has become both a tourist destination and a favourite among Floradale and Elmira locals. Its rich history is honoured through the style and decor, while fresh meals and vibrant smiles make any time spent there refreshing and fulfilling.

In 2015, Wilma Bauman took over ownership and operation of Bonnie Lou’s Cafe. Over the years, she has continued to provide Mennonite-style home-cooked meals and desserts composed of high quality, locally sourced ingredients, and prepared with talent and heart. Wilma loves supporting her friendly and talented team. She splits her time between serving tables, helping guests at the counter, and preparing meals in the kitchen - wherever she’s needed, she’s there! She leads a tight-knit team that loves connecting with regulars and hearing the stories of travellers. You’ll love everyone you meet at Bonnie Lou’s Cafe, and we can’t wait to meet you.
